What is my content marketing prediction for 2011?
Welcome to the era of content “snacking”. Notice how we consume content as continuous feeds - blog posts, twitter updates, short podcasts, 2 minute videos etc?
Information overload is an understatement. Multitasking cannot be avoided. Attention is at an all-time premium. This can be a major problem for marketers OR it can be an opportunity for those who chose to look at it from a different perspective, the "content snacking" perspective. In order to alleviate information overload, we marketers will pre-package content with a brief summary. A good example is Story Highlights (3-4 bullet points) for CNN.com articles. The story highlights will satisfy both groups of consumers - the ones that have the time and the ones that don't.
Content Marketing Action for 2011
Respect your target audience’s time. Minimize your content. Provide an appetizer (catch title, meaty summary) before inviting your reader( (blog reader, potential client or customer) to the full-course meal.
